Located in Bageqi Town, about 11 kilometers from Hotan city, Yotkan Ancient City is a large immersive cultural park built around the heritage of the ancient Kingdom of Khotan, and it takes its name from the nearby archaeological site traditionally regarded as the kingdom's capital during the Han and Tang dynasties. Opened in 2023 and now rated a national 4A tourist attraction, the complex recreates a Silk Road royal city, with red walls, white buildings, and themed streets for local food, handicraft workshops, folk culture, and jade. The highlight comes after dark, when costumed performers fill the squares and lanes for a walk-through show that uses the town's own buildings as its stage and brings the bustling markets, music, and dance of old Khotan to life. It is one of the most atmospheric evening experiences in southern Xinjiang.
