In the village you can sit down to a true delicacy: free-range chicken stewed with matsutake mushrooms in a Tibetan black clay pot. Tangdui is home to many pottery workshops, where you can try your hand at making black pottery under the guidance of recognized inheritors of this intangible cultural heritage. Once your piece is finished, head next door to the old Tibetan house café. The owner has preserved the original architecture of the traditional home while weaving in modern touches, and has filled every corner with small, quirky treasures collected on his travels, each one placed with care. It is a rare find: a village café with a truly Tibetan soul.
