Cancellation Protection
We understand that travel plan can change. So our policies' goal is to make it as flexible as possible for you. If your plans change, you can rebook your trip once at no charge, or cancel for a partial refund plus travel credit. Here's exactly how it works.
Rebook for free
If you need to postpone your trip's departure date, can you do it free of charge on one occasion. Just let us know 45 or more days before your start date and we'll move your trip - free of charge. You can then choose new dates for your trip any time within 24 months from your rebooking request date.
What happens if you cancel?
| When you cancel | Refunded to your card | Saved as travel credit | Retained |
|---|---|---|---|
| 45+ days before your trip | 80% | 20% | 0% |
| Between 44 and 7 days out | 50% | 20% | 30% |
| Less than 7 days out | 0% | 30% | 70% |
If you're in the last-minute window, just email us as soon as you can — we'll help as much as we can.
All percentages are calculated on the total value of your trip, not just the deposit. Travel credit is money set aside for a future Dragon Roads trip — good for any of our road trips, valid for 24 months from your cancellation date, and transferable to a friend or family member if you can't use it yourself.
You're protected by more than just us
Dragon Roads is a licensed Canadian travel agency (permit 703759), which means every single one of our trips is backed by a government-run Compensation Fund — FICAV.
It doesn't matter where in the world you're booking from or where your road trip takes you — if you book with us, you're covered.
In practical terms, FICAV can help if:
- A travel service you paid for isn't delivered, for example because a supplier goes bankrupt.
- You're stranded abroad because of a supplier failure during your trip.
- Dragon Roads itself becomes unable to provide the services you paid for.
You don't need to enroll. If a claim is ever needed, it's filed with the Quebec Consumer Protection Office, and we'd help you put the paperwork together.
